Layout Planning

A good tile install starts on paper.

Before any tile is cut we dry-lay the field, map cuts to land in inconspicuous corners, align grout joints across planes, and decide niche and bench placement. Small decisions that determine whether the finished room feels considered or chaotic.

  • Symmetrical cuts around niches and corners
  • Continuous grout-joint alignment floor-to-wall
  • Pattern-matched bookmatched slabs
  • Lippage held under 0.5mm on large-format

Substrate Preparation

If the substrate fails, the tile fails.

We check deflection, flatten with self-leveler when needed, and choose an uncoupling membrane like Schluter DITRA on every tile floor. It's the difference between tile that survives 30 years and tile that cracks in 3.

Floor Assembly · Cross Section

3mmThinset mortar
3mm◆ Schluter DITRA uncoupling
3mmThinset bond coat

DITRA absorbs movement between substrate and tile, preventing the cracks you see in builder-grade bathrooms.
